This is a custom built home that is off grid by way of very energy efficient construction technologies, thermal solar for domestic hot water, and PV system with battery back up. We also used real timber framing to support the kitchen and living room areas. This home won the Viridant Earthcraft Home of the Year award.  It also had the lowest ever recorded Home Energy Rating System (HERS) rating: minus 14.
